63 Years of Dance, Song, and Celebration!
Fiesta Noche del Rio, an Alamo Kiwanis Production, first performed in 1957, and has been a Riverwalk attraction ever since. Starting with the legendary Rosita Fernandez – San Antonio’s “First Lady of Song”, and creator and original performer – Fiesta Noche del Rio has continuously performed for hundreds of thousands of delighted patrons, without fail. Beginning in 1995 Noche del Rio was under the direction of Elizabeth “Lisa” Sanchez-Lopez, who directed, choreographed, and preformed as the lead female singer. In 2018, after 27 seasons, Lisa retired.
Katie Rodriguez Hall was named director for the 2019 season. Katie, a former Miss Fiesta San Antonio, has trained exclusively with the San Antonio School for the Performing Arts. She has performed with the Alamo City Dance Company and was a Fiesta Noche del Rio dancer in 1999 and 2000. She also served as president and choreographer for Ballet Folklorico Celestial during her time as a student at Texas A&M. Last year, the San Antonio native was named Ballet Master for the Alamo City Performing Arts Association and co-chaired the live entertainment for the San Antonio Riverwalk Association’s Halloween and Ford Holiday River Parade.
Note from the Director:
Fiesta Noche Del Rio has been a consistent and integral part of experiencing San Antonio and the Riverwalk for over 60 years. We’ve performed for hundreds of thousands of people during this time. In our 63rd season we are excited to build on this storied past and grow the show into an even bigger and better attraction for both tourists and locals alike. We are taking the best and most loved parts of our previous shows and integrating new performances and formats that are sure to excite the audience. We can’t wait for you to come out and share in our Fiesta!
